Position Summary: The CDL Class A Driver is a key part of our Transportation team reporting to the Manager of Transportation. The Class A Driver will be responsible for the completion of daily duties, safety procedures, assigned driving routes, and successful public relations with the use of our company vehicle. This position ensures that our food resources are delivered on time and in top condition to our partner agencies within our service areas around the state of Arizona in order to meet our goal of alleviating hunger in our community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Transportation and/or President & CEO. Experience driving and maneuvering a tractor with trailer (up to 53’ long) and/or 26’ Box (straight) truck Load trucks and deliver food to partner agencies in the United Food Bank service area Pick up grocery rescue on assigned route and deliver to United Food Bank warehouse, unload, sort, and receipt Pick up assigned food drives at locations throughout the United Food Bank service area. Ability to maneuver pallets of product weighing up to 1200 lbs. within the confines of a box and/or trailer with the assistance of pallet jacks Ability to lift and stack boxes of food, lift and set up Gaylord storage units, and lift and stack wooden pallets (50 lbs.) Current forklift certification or ability to obtain Practice safe food handling procedures at all times Practice safe driving procedures at all times Obey all traffic laws at all times Conduct vehicle safety checks as required Maintain good public relations with all contacts Maintain DOT logbooks for transportation Help coworkers of different job titles and departments whenever possible Take full responsibility of product during transportation Requirements Qualifications: (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Passion for alleviating hunger and personally aligned with our mission and values Experience in maneuvering tractor/trailer units and straight/box trucks Pallet Jack and Forklift experience. Ability to acquire Arizona Food Handlers Card and Serve Safe Certification Current ADOT long-form physical Knowledge of vehicle inspection processes Valid Arizona Class A Driver’s License with a clean driving record of 3 years At least three years of Commercial Driving and familiarity with Arizona terrain Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and socio-economic levels Ability to effectively analyze and resolve routine and complex problems Exhibits qualities of maturity, good judgment, and tact Physical demands and work environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
