Description

The Driver/Warehouse Associate is responsible for making pickups and deliveries and assisting with all warehouse functions assigned when available. The typical work schedule is a rotating five (5) consecutive days, Monday through Sunday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. The ideal candidate would be flexible in job assignments, routes and have a positive, friendly, and customer centric (Food Bank Ambassador) attitude. The Driver/Warehouse Associate would report directly to the Driver Manager for assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of one year of general warehouse or food handling experience.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in operation of motor vehicles which includes at least one year of diesel truck driving and forklift experience.
  • Valid Alaska Class A CDL, clean driving record and a current medical card. A clean medical card includes:
  • No suspensions or revocations in the past 3 years
  • Less than 3 accidents or moving violations in the most recent 3 years
  • No DUIs, DWIs, gross negligence while operating a vehicle, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, speeding, grand theft, hit & run, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, etc.
  • Able to safely perform tasks involving heavy lifting up to 70 pounds.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Good interpersonal and public relations skills (Food Bank Ambassador).
  • Good basic math skills.
  • Minimum one year’s computer experience and willingness to use new technology.
  • Commitment to organizational mission to end hunger.
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  1. Pick up donated items from local retail/wholesale/manufacturer donors, ensuring that on-time standards are met to the donor’s satisfaction. Accurately fill out Donation Receipts with all the pertinent information required.
  2. When route is completed prep truck for the following day and then assist in the warehouse as needed.
  3. Always provide excellent customer service to food donors, partner agencies, volunteers, the public, and fellow employees (Food Bank Ambassador).
  4. Ensure proper receipting, invoicing, transport, evaluation, storage and inventory control procedures for all incoming and outgoing products.
  5. Operate vehicles and equipment in a responsible and safe manner, obeying the rules of the road and DOT regulations.
  6. Maintain vehicles and equipment responsibly. This includes securing loads and equipment before putting the vehicle in motion, leaving vehicles fueled up for the next run, cleaning and washing out trailers and truck boxes to ensure cleanliness, as well as using chains when conditions indicate and as may be directed by the Driver Manager.
  7. Maintain Driver Record of Duty, Vehicle Inspection Reports, and other daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required by DOT, FMCSA and FBA.
  8. Report any vehicle malfunctions or maintenance needed to the Driver Manager promptly.
  9. Give appropriate guidance and direction to volunteers as needed. This may include diverse community members such as military groups, church groups, halfway house inmates, corporate groups, and individuals.
  10. Receive communications throughout the day for route modifications, deliveries and donor pick-ups as needed from the Food Donation Coordinator, Driver Manager, Warehouse Manager, or Logistics Manager.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

  1. Safely operate warehouse equipment, pallet jacks, forklifts, etc. in accordance with OSHA and FBA standards.
  2. Assist in maintaining warehouse sanitation standards (cleaning) both inside and outside the building, which includes freezer, cooler, warehouse offices, and bathrooms. Also assist with maintenance and snow removal as required.
  3. Perform computer operations as required for inventory control procedures.
  4. Other duties as assigned including but not limited to, Mobile Food Pantry duties (MFP) on a rotating basis with other FBA driver staff.
