The Classroom Assistant, Autistic Support assists in carrying out a program consistent with the philosophy of the Program for Students with Exceptionalities and under the direction of the teacher and principal.

The essential functions of this position may include, but are not limited to:
1. Assists in transportation of students.
2. Keeps records and works with bulletin boards.
3. Assists on field trips.
4. Assists in the preparation, maintenance, scheduling, and operation of Special Education equipment and materials.
5. Assists in keeping children clean.
6. Prepares rooms for receiving students and end of day cleanup.
7. Works with students on independent assignments as directed by the teacher.
8. Assists teachers and students in various day to day classroom tasks.
9. Prepares lunch for students and feeds students when necessary.
10. Participates in community based instructional activities.
11. Assists in the physical movement of students when necessary.
12. Changes diapers for male and female students aged 5-21
13. Helps students with toilet needs.
14. Participates in community based instructional activities.
15. Works with Special Education staff (OT, PT, S/L, vision, hearing, and adapted PE etc.)
