POSITION OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking a experienced Special Needs Support Worker to assist children in our daily programs. This afternoon position is currently offered Monday through Friday from 1 PM – 5 PM.
You will be supporting a child and the general classroom to encourage participation, social interactions and ensure safe play . This role is essential to helping the child succeed and feel safe and supported throughout their afternoon routine in our 3-5 daycare program.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in a daycare or childcare setting would be an asset
  • Experience working as a Support worker would be an asset
  • Clear Criminal Record Check required
  • Completion of Responsible Adult certificate, 20 hours of child-related workshops, or child-related college course
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Compassionate, reliable, and professional with strong communication skills
Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one support to a child with special needs in the daycare program of 24 other children and 4 educators.
  • Assist with self-care tasks, including toileting, hygiene, and feeding as needed
  • Follow any necessary medical protocols as directed by health care professionals and families
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure an inclusive and safe environment
  • Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and team members
  • Contribute to a nurturing and developmentally appropriate atmosphere for all children
