Brackenfield School is an area special school for the South of Derbyshire, providing an education for young people with learning and communication needs and is opening a new Post 16 site in September 2025.
The Head Teacher and Governors wish to appoint 2 Cleaning Operatives to support the effective daily running of both school sites.
Monday – Friday 15:00 – 17:00 / 40 WEEKS per annum
Grade 3 - £5,605.92 per annum ( Actual salary )

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 To provide routine / practical cleaning and related support activities Responsibilities:
 Adhere to Health and Safety procedures including COSHH
 Key holding responsibility for cleaning and supplies stores
 Support the daily running of the school by ensuring that the school environment is clean and safe. This may include tasks such as: o Cleaning toilet areas o Cleaning food preparation areas o Cleaning windows and outdoor play equipment o Maintaining vehicle cleanliness o Ensuring the sensory rooms and soft play area are sanitary o Ensuring pupils’ personal care items are replenished as needed o Restocking toilet roll, paper towels, hand sanitisers, plastic cups, first aid supplies etc .
o Responding to urgent cleaning needs that might occur
 Communicate any issues to line manager
 And any other task that is appropriate and in line with the job grade and role Standards
 Support the aims and ethos of the school as explained in the Code of Conduct
 Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
 Display basic courtesy and politeness to all service users (staff, pupils, parents, visitors)
 Participate in staff training and development as appropriate Additional Work Elements
 Some physical effort such as frequent use of buffer, vacuuming, scrubbing, bending.
 Some exposure to unfavourable working conditions, such as cleaning toilets, use of cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, noise
