We currently have a full-time vacancy, 40 hours, for a Cleaner/Maintenance Operative to join our team. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities by maintaining cleanliness, handling waste management and supporting general site maintenance.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• A strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks.
• Basic understanding of workplace safety procedures.
• Willingness to work in an outdoor and industrial environment.
• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
• Due to location Own Transport would be necessary.

• To observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that all instructions are adhered to.
• Ensure that gutters, gullies, drains etc. are checked regularly and kept free from debris and that the grounds are clean and litter free.
• To undertake maintenance and light repair duties as outlined below (but not limited to):
• Basic joinery- First line maintenance of fixtures and fittings, examples: tightening screws on window hinges, maintenance on door handles, minor repairs.
• To operate a counterbalance forklift to load, unload, and transport various materials, including steel, pallets, gas bottles, and plant equipment, both within the factory and externally.
• To assist with loading materials into plasma machines, moving steel between bays, managing paint deliveries, and organising trestles and drying racks.
• To carry out grass cutting/ weed control on site and some grounds maintenance.
• Clean company vehicles regularly, both internally and externally.
• General housekeeping duties on site.
• Sweep all roads and pathways within the yard.
• Ensure the shop yard and front exterior area are kept clean, organised, and well-maintained.
• Our site consists of offices, workshops and production areas, as we are a growing team our surroundings need to adapt with us, and you will be involved in the continuous improvement of our site facilities, office refurbishments and moves, gardening as well as general site maintenance work where required.
• To report any defects / damage in the course of your duties and to liaise with BHC Management Team.
• To handle the removal of refuse, skips, scrap, swarf and plasma skeletons ensuring efficient waste disposal and site organisation.
• Adhere to the designated gritting procedure during adverse weather conditions, ensuring all necessary areas are treated. Regularly monitor, maintain, and replenish all grit bins on-site to ensure safety and accessibility.
• Operation and maintenance of biomass boilers, glen farrow biomass, incinerator, boiling press, anaerobic digester and any other environmental or energy recovery systems implemented on site. Ensure all systems are kept stocked with woodchip.
