NNSA REQUIREMENTS FOR MEDPEDS

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

WHAT YOUR JOB WILL BE LIKE

Are you an energetic and dynamic leader ready to make a significant impact in the field of advanced transport security? The Mobile Guardian Transporter (MGT) Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) Department (06761) is looking for a results-oriented and dedicated manager to lead our talented team.
In this critical role, you will oversee the staff, laboratories, and program deliverables associated with the groundbreaking MGT program, which has recently been rebase lined to achieve First Payload Utilization (FPU) by 2029. You will guide your team through exciting challenges and opportunities, ensuring that we meet our ambitious goals while maintaining the highest standards of safety and security. We are responsible for conducting verification and validation activities, including module/subsystem level verification, full-scale system tests (both non-destructive and destructive), and management of modeling and simulation activities.

On any given day, your responsibilities may entail:

  • Provide technical and programmatic leadership for the MGT AI&T/Qualification department.
  • Attract, engage, and develop high-performing teams by recruiting new staff and technologists, while fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Collaborate with managers across the center, including 6620, 1530, and other ND organizations to execute on programmatic milestones and deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards in all R&D activities.
  • Contribute to major MGT schedule, budget, and risk management activities.
  • Engage with a broad range of internal Sandia partners, including weapon systems, test and analysis groups, and the production agency (KCNSC/NMO) to leverage cross-disciplinary expertise.
  • Prepare and present both technical and programmatic status updates to internal and external partners.
  • Collaborate with facility capabilities to address risks and gaps in system-level qualification activities, driving innovative solutions.
  • Document and effectively communicate qualification decisions.
  • Work with MGT project controllers to oversee project timelines and charging (labor/ODC) while monitoring the AI&T/Qualification schedule.
  • Develop the future direction of R&D efforts and align with organizational priorities.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. This position requires moderate travel and external customer interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS WE REQUIRE

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering or other relevant field.
  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Experience in management, program management, or leadership within a technical environment, with a focus on program development and execution activities.
  • Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent

QUALIFICATIONS WE DESIRE

  • Master’s degree in the above stated fields
  • Minimum of two years of leadership experience
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams in the executing complex and varied technical activities.
  • Experience in product development, integration, testing, and qualification of high visibility projects or initiatives.
  • Experience in Developing and mentoring of staff to achieve their career objectives.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to plan and manage cost, schedule, and performance for a large-scale projects.
