The Department of Public Service Delivery is looking to recruit for clerical positions in the Vital Statistics Branch in Winnipeg, MB.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Experience performing clerical and administrative duties in an office environment including cash handling, data entry, preparing specialized or complex written correspondence, and organizing and maintaining manual files and electronic records
  • Experience working with the public in a customer service-oriented environment (e.g. serving the public in person and/or over the phone)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in high pressure situations and competing priorities while meeting strict deadlines
  • Experience interpreting, applying and explaining policies, procedures and/or legislation or acts to the general public
  • Experience handling and maintaining sensitive material in a confidential and professional manner
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively with department staff, external agencies, other professionals, and the general public
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or equivalent software applications
  • Experience maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience working independently with a high degree of initiative
  • Ability to apply sound judgement and make effective decisions
  • Ability to work co-operatively and constructively as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to speak in a clear and concise manner
  • Excellent written communication skills including writing letters, memos and responding to emails

Desired

  • Familiarity with Manitoba’s cities, towns, and communities to support accurate data collection for document processing and service delivery

Duties:
Reporting to the Operational Manager, the clerk provides direct client service and performs a variety of tasks that directly impact all functions of the office. The position includes accepting and processing applications as well as examining documents filed for registration to ensure they are complete and meet the requirements of the applicable legislation. The position provides data entry and filing services, including electronic and paper-based files. The role also provides services to clients by telephone, in person, and by email.
