The Customer Support Representative (Clerk) position supports rail operations, system fluidity, and customer relations. This department promotes rail services, collaborates on market needs, enhances customer satisfaction, drives revenue growth, and manages customer relationships.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position governed by a union agreement. Our Customer Support Team is 24-hour a day, 7 days a week operation. Shifts may be unconventional work schedules with consecutive rest days. Assigned shifts may be 12 hours on a 4-day on, 3-day off, 3-day on, 4-day off rotation, or 8 hours on a 5 consecutive day work week. This position may work days, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Travel is minimal.
Training for this position is company-paid on-the-job training.
Key responsibilities may include:
Initiating or correcting train and railcar reporting to ensure regulatory compliance, safety, reduced dwell, protect crew starts, and ensure prompt train movement.
Interfacing with Customs and Border Protection, customs brokers, and internal customers to provide clearance of freight and maintain fluidity across international gateways.
Acting as the primary contact point for external customers and collaborating with various BNSF departments to assess, research, and resolve issues.
Effectively responding to questions from employees and customers, identifying and implementing solutions, and interpreting information to apply rules and agreements.
Initiating and processing correspondence via various communication channels as well as maintaining confidential information.
Typing Requirement for this position is a minimum rate of 35 wpm. Candidates must pass a BNSF-arranged typing test.
Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.
Relocation assistance is not available, and there is an 8-month probationary period.
