Campus Development Office Clerk-of-Works II (Building) / Assistant Clerk-of-Works The appointee will report to the relevant Project Manager of the Office, and will be responsible for (a) supervising contractors employed in new building and A&A works; (b) complying with inspection procedures and reporting systems of the Office; (c) assisting the engineers/architects in reviewing technical and material submissions, design details, and contract drawings and documents; (d) carrying out inspection of building construction works, including conducting required tests, monitoring the progress of site works and construction site safety, ensuring required standards of workmanship, quality control and timely delivery, and assisting in resolving technical problems on site; (e) assisting architects/engineers/consultants of the building project team in co-ordinating requirements and information, recording items of work before covering up, delivery of materials, maintaining daily work records and T&C records and writing site diary as required; and (f) performing other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Campus Development. Applicants should have (i) a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Building Studies or equivalent from a recognised university or technical institute; (ii) at least 7 years’ post-qualification experience as clerk-of-works or site supervisor, including experience in building development works, alterations and additions, and major renovation and repairs in the construction industry; and (iii) good knowledge of the prevailing Building Regulations and Codes of Practice. Experience in supervising capital and AA&I works will be advantageous. Those with less but at least 4 years’ post-qualification experience may be considered as Assistant Clerk-of-Works. Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
