Summary Job Description: Full Time 40 weekly hours, day shift The Laboratory at Baptist Health Louisville provides both clinical and pathology services with a staff of 121 employees who perform approximately 3.5 million tests a year. The staff is comprised of a group of registered medical technologists and medical laboratory technicians, laboratory aides, phlebotomists, histotechnologists, and transcriptionists. There are 4 pathologists who oversee the technical departments and provide surgical pathology services to the hospital. The Laboratory consisting of Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Pathology and Histology is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Laboratory had automated the processing and testing of majority of the specimens with the use of robotics thus providing accurate results and quick turn-around-times to meet the needs of the patients and physicians. As a full service laboratory with leading edge technology, lots of opportunities for growth and advancement are available in a wide variety of disciplines and specialties in this area of the healthcare industry. Job Summary: Draws blood by capillary or venipuncture, labels tubes properly, and delivers tubes to Lab according to Laboratory Policy and Procedure. Maintains Order Monitor and organizes workload with phlebotomy staff and other applicable hospital personnel. Performs Front Office responsibilities; processes extra tubes including centrifuging and proper storage. Loads specimens onto the Roche Modular Pre-Analytics (MPA) system. Answers telephones, responds to inquiries by hospital personnel, visitors or others. Participates in training procedures as directed by supervisor. Requirements: Phlebotomy experience or successful completion of Phlebotomy training in an accredited Phlebotomy program preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Responsibilities
The Clerk Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood, labeling tubes, and delivering them to the lab according to established procedures. Additionally, they maintain order among the phlebotomy staff and perform front office responsibilities.
