Description
Our client, a well-established provider of specialised business and commercial services, is seeking to recruit an ambitious and driven Client Accountant to join their growing team of dedicated professionals on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Managers and Team Leaders of the Client Accounting team, the Client Accountant will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, building lasting professional relationships, and mentoring junior team members. Key Responsibilities: Prepare management accounts for a dedicated portfolio of clients and manage annual audit processes, ensuring auditors receive all required information within statutory deadlines. Prepare and submit VAT returns for assigned clients. Ensure all tasks within the assigned portfolio, as well as those of junior team members, are completed accurately and in line with statutory and client deadlines. Liaise with management regarding clients’ accounting requirements, focusing on maintaining and enhancing service quality. Review financial statements, including complex disclosures, and review VAT returns prepared by team members. Contribute to compliance monitoring within the accountancy department. Mentor and supervise junior accountants, assisting them with technical queries and daily tasks. Conduct regular progress meetings with junior team members to monitor client portfolios and provide feedback. Assist management and team leaders in preparing articles on relevant financial and regulatory matters for publication. Liaise with internal departments to gather information and documentation required for the timely preparation of financial statements and statutory returns. Identify and report significant accounting issues to management. Support management in ensuring junior team members meet all statutory deadlines, including VAT, tax returns, and financial statements. Participate in client meetings related to own portfolio and accompany junior team members to their client meetings when needed. Requirements: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a client accounting environment. Fully qualified accountant (recognised professional qualification). Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word, as well as experience with SAGE. Excellent written and spoken English, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong sense of responsibility and integrity when handling sensitive financial information. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Sound technical knowledge of client accounting, VAT, and related areas. Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively. Proactive and eager to learn across different sectors. Dynamic, social, and adaptable with a positive team-oriented attitude. Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
