The Opportunity We are hiring a Client and Partner Principal to help lead and grow our UK presence. This is the most senior client-facing commercial role in the region and a core part of our long-term strategy. This role is designed for a self-starter. Someone who wants genuine ownership, influence, and trust, not layers of management, sales theatre, or bureaucracy. You will work closely with a small, highly experienced leadership team and partner directly with senior engineers, architects, and consultants to win and deliver complex enterprise work. This is a hands-on, relationship-led role for someone who naturally moves between commercial conversations, delivery realities, and executive advisory. What You’ll Do Lead and grow Tier 1 enterprise relationships Own and grow a portfolio of major enterprise clients as the senior commercial lead and trusted advisor Build deep, long-term relationships with CIOs, CTOs, Chief Data Officers, and senior business leaders Win and shape complex consulting engagements Originate and close new client opportunities through consultative, relationship-led selling Shape bespoke software engineering, data platform, and AI engagements, often multi-stream and multi-year Lead the structuring and signing of complex Statements of Work, including fixed-price and fixed-outcome engagements Partner closely with delivery and technical leaders Work hands-on with senior engineers, architects, and consultants to align scope, pricing, and delivery Ensure commercial discipline, margin protection, and delivery realism across engagements Represent Simple Machines in the market Build Simple Machines’ presence across the UK enterprise, data, and AI ecosystem Develop relationships with hyperscalers and leading technology partners Act as a visible, credible representative of the firm with clients, partners, and industry leaders Own commercial performance Be accountable for pipeline, revenue, margin, utilisation, and long-term account health Who This Role Is For This role is for a senior Client and Partner Principal who is ready to lead. You bring: 10+ years in senior commercial roles within consulting or technology services A track record of owning and signing multi-million-pound consulting or engineering engagements Direct experience working with Tier 1 enterprises such as banks, telcos, insurers, or similarly complex organisations Strong commercial and financial literacy across pricing, margin, utilisation, and forecasting Confidence operating directly with senior executives and navigating complex procurement environments Tier 1 consultancy-level presentation and communication, with clear executive presence and professional polish You enjoy autonomy, responsibility, and building things properly. You value quality, judgement, and long-term relationships over volume or noise.
Responsibilities
