The Inclusion Portfolio programs are for children and youth with physical and/or developmental differences. Participants will interact and play through music, art, and recreation. The goal of the program is to enable participants to have fun through creative, sensory and social experiences and to provide respite relief to families during the school year (September to June). Successful candidates must be flexible to participate in training after business hours or on weekends.

A Client Services Assistant supports the following programs:

  • Weekend Respite Day Program – Sundays, 10:00am-4:00pm (September 2025 to June 2026)
  • Music and Art Programs – Saturdays, 10:00am – 6:00pm (September 2025 to June 2026)
  • Robotics Programs – weekday evenings and/or Sunday mornings (September 2025 to June 2026)
  • March Break Respite Camp - March 16-20, 2026, 8:30-4:30

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a Diploma in Developmental Service Work, Personal Support Worker certificate/diploma, nursing education, child youth worker/development degree/diploma or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education required.
  • CPR certification – CPR HS (Heart Saver) certificate must be obtained prior to first day of employment
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate an asset
  • ASL qualifications an asset
  • Experience working with children or youth with physical disabilities and/or neurodivergent diagnosis
  • Demonstrated understanding and training in supporting individuals with ASD
  • Demonstrates ability to be flexible, to assess the needs of individuals and to respond quickly to needs
  • Demonstrates initiative and self direction to work independently at times
  • Demonstrates ability to organize time and manage working hours
  • Demonstrates ability to work in collaboration with staff/clients/families
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to perform lifts, transfer or position participants independently, as needed
  • Ability and experience in feeding, e.g., spoon to mouth and providing personal care, e.g., changing briefs, for participants independently, as needed or appropriate
Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 assistance for assigned client (toileting, feeding, focus, lifting, behaviour, activity tasks etc.)
  • Facilitate assigned client’s fullest possible participation in the program
  • Assist Group Leaders with other clients’ needs as necessary
  • Assist safe participation of clients
  • Support lunch/break times of clients
  • Contribute to daily debriefing meetings
  • Collaborate with program staff, volunteers and families
  • Work as a team member with the larger Team, including prep and clean up, participation in group activities such as arts activities, music, recreation, etc.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment and advances a culture of client/patient safety through work and daily practices
  • Encourage and support participants in oral communication, working with others, problem solving, decision-making, task planning and organizing, and peer socialization.
  • Apply crisis intervention strategies calmly and effectively, respond quickly to situations.
  • Ability to work in a busy, creative environment and physically demanding (lifts and transfers)
  • Other duties as assigned
