Key Responsibilities: Climate Change Adaptation Specialist will be responsible for organization capacities for analyzing climate issues and actions. She/He will provide strategic technical and management support to programming portfolio at the National Office, working specifically with area programmes in Indonesia which has thematic initiatives on climate and environmental protection actions. Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the CCA strategy in relation to the three ministries: disaster management, advocacy and transformational development, to support the National and Global Partnership strategies. Strategy Development & Planning Develop a National approach to integrating Environment Stewardship and Climate Action (ESCA) into strategy/programs/sectors that are aligned with global commitments. Lead the evolution and innovation of ESCA project models at the national level to ensure most vulnerable children and their families are more resilient to economic, conflict, and climate shocks through strengthened capacity. Provide field-centered training on ESCA to build the capacity. Provide technical support to Area Programs/Projects and build the capacity of FOs in the areas of ESCA at the strategic and programming level. Resource Acquisition & Management Collaborated with Grants Acquisition and Resource Development teams and Programs Department, actively identify funding opportunities and help to identify and articulate WV’s unique selling proposition/ competitive advantages from a technical perspective. Position WV as a thought leader, lifting visibility and reputation in the area of ESCA, articulating WV’s learning, innovation, and evidence of impact vis a vis climate change through thought leadership products (e.g. position papers) and active engagement with external networks, media and social media (e.g LinkedIn). Developed and managed the budgeting framework for ESCA training plan, incl. cost for trainers, materials, venue (if necessary), etc. Capacity Building Provide technical support to strengthen APs and zone office capacity to adapt with climate change and disaster risks. Contribute to WV as a “Learning Organization” - actively learning and sharing with the other staff and contribute to Lessons Learned and Promising Practices following ESCA initiatives. Provide technical support to improve awareness of AP staff on ESCA-related opportunity and eagerness to pursue it. Accountability & Quality Assurance Identify, research and document promising practices on climate change action; share good practices among programs/projects. Initiate and documented CCA Project Models. Ensure that contextualised Global Partnership-related ESCA programmes/projects approach, policies, and guidance are rolled out in the organization. Develop capacity statements and case studies to contribute to organizational learning and positioning. Participate in research and analysis that supports ESCA areas. Promote dissemination of research findings at research and policy forums to enhance organization visibility and influences Networking & Coordination: Represent the WVI as a technical expert with relevant internal and external partners, with active participation in technical working groups, conferences, and other events as relevant. Strengthen strategic alliances and network with key internal stakeholders including partnership. Form partnerships with other climate and environment-concerned institutions (NGOs, churches, FBOs, etc.) and develop networks with other related institutions (NGO, universities, etc.) to strengthen internal capacity building program. Establish and maintain relationship with donors and funding agencies (including local donors, corporate, churches, etc.) ensuring good communications. Management & Leadership: Submits periodical/monthly accomplishment report. Foster collaborative and positive spirit of working in team with other staff in respective unit and department. Coordinate and manage National ESCA Team and as ESCA Focal Point for Indonesia in regional office setting. Contribute to organizational leadership through WVIDN training programs (such as Talent Pool program). Actively participate in task force initiatives, taking ownership of assigned responsibility. Requirements Min 5 years’ experience in climate and/or environment related projects and issues. Experience working in government and/or NGO/international development context. Experience in project management, grass-root implementation, monitoring and evaluation and report writing essential. Strong or advance skill in English (speaking, listening, and writing) is preferable. Preferably master degree with at least 3 years’ experience in Earth Science, Disaster Management, International Development, Environmental Engineering, or relevant degree; or Bachelor Degree with at least 5 years’ experience in oceanography, forestry, meteorology, or environmental engineering.
