  TITLE:  Climate Crisis Response and Resilience Officer TEAM/PROGRAMME:  Program Operation LOCATION:Beijing/Kunming/Chengdu/Guangzhou/Shanghai GRADE: 5 CONTRACT LENGTH: 2 Years CHILD SAFEGUARDING:  Level 3:  the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff. ROLE PURPOSE The Climate Crisis Response and Resilience Officer will support the growth of climate change program portfolio under guidance. The role holder will assist in the implementation of climate change projects, contribute to advocacy and campaign efforts, and help facilitate activities that engage children and young people. The role holder may accompany senior staff to represent SCI China CO in internal and external meetings.  In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly. SCOPE OF ROLE:  Reports to: Lead of Impact and Quality Staff reporting to this post: N/A Budget Responsibilities: N/A Role Dimensions: The role is expected to build effective working relationships with colleagues and external contacts under supervision. Internally, the role needs to work closely with program operation teams, communication and engagement team, advocacy and campaign officer in SCI China CO and the SCI global climate taskforce or technical advisors. Externally, the role needs to interact and coordinate with government, UN agencies, INGO, CSOs, academics, media, etc. as guided. KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Support the growth, development, and resource mobilization for climate program (20%) * Learn about and adhere to SCI’s policy, position, technical expertise and resources on climate change and children. * Under the guidance of team leader to develop, implement and monitor quarterly, monthly and weekly activity plans to achieve expected results.  * Support the Lead of Impact and Quality by conducting basic research and compiling information on assigned topics  * Help to communicate the climate change program development plan clearly internally and externally to attract support, resources, and partnership.    Implement climate change projects (80%) * Provide support for assigned climate change projects, following the procedures and requirements of SCI’s project management such as PRIME, etc. * Assist in liaising with partners and suppliers under established procedures to ensure smooth delivery of activities and achievement of the set project goals and outcomes.  * Support to deliver of project activities based on the project detailed implementation plan, collect data to report against project indicators.  * Monitor project budget spending and track project progress, flagging significant variance to line manager, flagging any significant variances to the supervisor. * Support advocacy and campaign activities through material preparation, event logistics, and activity documentation. * Help produce simple communication content (e.g., social media drafts, basic presentations) based on provided information.May accompany senior staff to meetings to take notes and learn.   This role will also take other work within the impact and quality function role’s and responsibilities as assigned by Head of Impact and Quality. Integrity: * honest, encourages openness and transparency; demonstrates highest levels of integrity EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Essential * At least 1 years’ experience with relevant experience relevant to this position;  * Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; * A foundational understanding of and strong interest in understanding of international and national agreement, policy and framework on climate change, stakeholders, initiatives on climate change and children;  * Good interpersonal and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team * Good planning and task execution skills * Good written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin and English; * A team player with a proactive attitude, strong willingness to learn, and ability to follow * Ability to operate within a predominantly administratively self-servicing environment.   Desirable * Some exposure to or interest in national and subnational level stakeholders in climate change  Additional job responsibilities The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.
