Description
Your Role in Our Story: As a Climate Project Manager at ACT, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of technology-based projects — such as improved cookstoves and carbon dioxide removals — for both the voluntary and compliance carbon markets. Your role covers the entire lifecycle of a project: from opportunity sourcing and design to commercial structuring, implementation, certification, and final carbon credit issuance. It requires a balance of technical expertise, project management, stakeholder coordination, and strong communication skills. In essence, your role involves: Stakeholder management Identify, contact, and manage key relationships with project developers, local partners, NGOs, investors, and other relevant parties for sourcing high-quality projects. Engage with counterparties to develop and write mitigation activity idea notes (“MAIN”), including technical, commercial, and financial assessments and key risks. Maintain strong relationships with internal ACT teams such as front office, key account management, ESG, legal, risk, and compliance. Stay informed on evolving carbon market trends (e.g., biodiversity credits, Article 6, CORSIA) to guide future strategy. Project development and Carbon Asset Development (CAD) Take ownership of the MAIN’s development into full climate projects, working with technical and investment teams. Drive project conception, feasibility assessments, baseline and scenario development, and methodology selection. Perform ex-ante quantification of mitigation outcomes directly or with ACT’s technical specialists. Contribute to project budget and financial model refinement, commercial arrangements, and credit sales or financing efforts. Lead the writing of Project Design Documents (PDDs) and Measurement, Reporting & Verification (MRV) protocols. Manage registration on carbon standards, oversee validation with third-party VVBs, and ensure proper verification and issuance. Project implementation oversight and reporting Prepare, coordinate, and oversee implementation plans with local partners in line with methodologies and contractual obligations. Track KPIs, budgets, timelines, and performance to ensure project delivery. Manage reporting obligations to project stakeholders and ACT senior management. Maintain project documentation, financial reports, and impact databases in line with standards and funder requirements. Commercial development Assess financial and business models that include ex-ante carbon credit generation forecasts. Lead internal approval processes (PAC, ESG committee). Negotiate with project partners, carbon credit buyers, and investors in collaboration with the Investment Team. Drive contracting processes to ensure all project and offtake agreements are in place. Maintain compliance with internal and external requirements, including legal, risk, and KYC obligations. Your Expertise, Our Shared Success: To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of technical insight, commercial understanding, and project execution skills to develop high-quality carbon projects globally. Required skills: Strong knowledge of carbon market mechanisms, methodologies, and MRV systems. Commercial and sales acumen to negotiate and coordinate with project co-developers. Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain long-term partnerships with project stakeholders. Proven ability to work collaboratively in team environments and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Legal writing and document review skills focused on clarity, accuracy, and risk mitigation. Strong analytical capabilities to evaluate carbon and financial models, identify assumptions, and interpret results for strategic decisions. Prior deal experience in real asset investing (climate, natural resources, or infrastructure) in developing markets, with demonstrated valuation and financial modelling experience, is a strong preference. If you meet these criteria and are ready to contribute your expertise to a dynamic and challenging environment, we encourage you to apply.
