Supports clinical operations through accurate specimen collection, safe handling, and timely communication of results. Perform phlebotomy and specimen processing using proper patient identification, labeling, and collection standards. Assist with complex phlebotomy situations and maintain professional patient and staff interactions. Obtain basic vital signs after completing required competency (no immunizations, medication dispensing, or procedure assistance). Accurately document clinical and laboratory information in the electronic health record. Conduct quality control, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and proficiency testing as required. Apply knowledge of specialty procedures and test values to determine appropriate next steps within scope. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (required in complex CLIA labs). If CMA - Valid and current certification in the state of Iowa for Medical Assisting Accredited program plus certification through: (AAMA, NCCT, AMT, NHA, NCMA, NAHP, AAH, ARMA or NHCA) Phlebotomy experience or phlebotomy certification Direct patient care or certification for MA, LPN, RN a plus!
Responsibilities
