Description This position is eligible for the $5,000 sign-on bonus. PURPOSE STATEMENT The Clinic LPN/MA, under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, is responsible for assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform selected nursing and administrative duties, and assists physicians as required. Prepare patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting room to the exam room and taking histories and vital signs. Prepare, clean and maintain exam and treatment rooms. Give injections, performs EKG’s, assists with examinations and provides other patient care services as directed. Administer medications per provider orders and phones in pharmacy orders as directed. Maintain sample medication supply, logs all sample medications and purges expired medications. Prepare and maintains clinical supplies and equipment. Assist with answering the telephone, providing information as requested and screening calls to the physician. Assist with scheduling tests and treatments. Contribute to the development of policies and procedures. Assist patients in setting goals for self-management, teaching them how to do self-management tasks and report abnormal findings to the provider. Collaborate with the patients, provider, and other Care Team members in assessing the patient’s progress toward individual health care goals. Assess barriers when patient has not met treatment goals, is not following treatment plan of care, or has not kept important appointments. Participate in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Ensure adherence to all laws and regulations related to employment, OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA and other federal, state and WMMC compliance policies and procedures and promptly reports actual or potential wrongdoing. Maintain strict confidentiality. Treat members of the Care Team, visitors and patients with dignity and respect. Perform other related work as required. Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner. Perform CLIA waived tests proficiently. Receive and handle phone calls as directed by the physician. Ensure rooms are properly cleaned and stocked. Proper handling and storage of all sample medications that are stored in the office. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. SHIFT REQUIREMENTS Monday through Thursday. 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent. Current license/certification. LPN- graduate from an accredited school and current state license. Medical Assistant- current certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) is required or obtained within 90 days of hire. Current BLS required. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day. Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard. Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines. Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing. Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition. Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to life and/or carry up to 40 lbs. Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
