Summary The primary purpose of the Clinic Scheduler is to schedule appointments and check in patients for the Medical Clinic in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Cozad Community Health System. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This description intends to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this job. Verifies insurance, requests insurance card, driver's license, and advises patients of payment expectations. Answers phone calls and related questions in a professional manner. Serves as a back up for other Business Office positions as needed. Follows all HIPAA guidelines and promotes and ensures patient safety. Fulfills mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive and professional environment. Special projects and other duties as assigned. Previous insurance billing experience and computer experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Licensure/Certification Basic Life Support (CPR) Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with patients and co-workers. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
