This search seeks a candidate with expertise in impact development, impact investment, regional or city planning, double-bottom-line development, public-private partnerships, and/or urban economic development. However, qualifications from other fields in real estate development will be considered.
The Schack Institute of Real Estate is actively seeking candidates who are distinguished academics and/or professionals with exceptional experience in Commercial Real Estate Development in the private sector (either privately held or publicly traded), the public sector, ESG, and/or the impact space. Candidates with industry experience in one or more areas mentioned above will be prioritized. It is preferred that all candidates have some proficiency in financial underwriting, portfolio management, asset management, or capital markets, though pure planners will also be considered.
Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Schack Institute of Real Estate, the successful candidate will work closely with the Academic Director to implement the vision to expand Schack’s real estate programs and initiatives and increase its profile and visibility locally, nationally, and internationally.
A successful candidate will (i) teach within either the graduate and undergraduate programs and may also teach within corporate & executive education programs; (ii) develop courses; (iii) advise students; (iv) collaborate with other faculty and industry partners; and (v) engage with the broader academic and industry communities, as appropriate. A successful candidate will be further expected to demonstrate commitment and dedication to the Schack Institute, SPS, and the University to strengthen shared governance and advance SPS’s mission. All clinical faculty are dedicated to teaching, student advising, and various kinds of scholarly work, creative production, and professional activity, which may include research, outside professional service on committees, or in administrative or advisory roles. Additionally, ideal candidates will have experience working with a diverse base of professionals and/or teaching a diverse population of students. This full-time position begins with a two-year renewable faculty appointment.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $135,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
