As a Clinical Assistant, you will provide support to the Microbiology Division by providing assistance to health practitioner staff and administrative staff. This support will include:

- Processing various clinical microbiology, molecular and serology specimen types as instructed, including samples for Respiratory PCR testing.

- Providing data entry support in the microbiology division office and various clerical tasks as required.

- Performance of a range of non-technical laboratory tasks including glassware and cleaning and maintenance duties.

Your key resonsibilites:

- Participate in the operational duties including sample preparation and processing to facilitate SARS-CoV-2, and other respiratory viruses.

- Work with integrity, complying with expected ethical and behavioural standards, respecting patient confidentiality and the importance of patient results.

- Participate in shift, weekend and after hours work if required, in accordance with the award.

- Provide support and assistance in the specimen reception and setup area under the direction of the rostered Health Practitioner and the Chief Scientist inclusive of;

- Perform microbiology setup.

- Perform QC temperature checks and maintenance as required, accurately recording results and notifying supervisors of non-conformances

- Actively monitor the receipt and distribution of specimens as directed

- Process samples for analysis on-site or for despatch to other laboratories, entering data using the laboratory computer system, basic quality control functions and cleaning of workstations and equipment.
