Description:
The successful candidate will perform a broad range of pre-analytical and post-analytical processes and operational duties in compliance with policies and procedures to support effective and efficient laboratory service delivery.

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘your key responsibilities’, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience in or the ability to rapidly learn pre-analytical and post-analytical clinical laboratory tasks.
- Demonstrated initiative, highly developed communication skills, and a commitment to personal and organisational excellence.
- Demonstrated high level skills, or ability to rapidly acquire high level skills, in the use of AUSLAB and ieMR.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to quality and service improvement activities in accordance with National Association of Testing Authority/International Standardisation Organisation (NATA/ISO) accreditation / certification.
- Ability to work additional shifts to support planned and unplanned leave within the team.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Mandatory Qualifications - Nil.
- While not mandatory, a Certificate III or IV in Pathology (Laboratory Assistance) or equivalent would be well regarded.
- Will be required to participate in 24-hour shift and weekend roster arrangements
Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements
- It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
- Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
- Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License.
