Description
Summary: Responsible for administrative as well as clinical tasks. Assists in prepping schedules by calling patients to interview them before exams. Other duties may include taking patient history, explains procedure, prepare procedure room and call referring physician office for the technologist or radiologist. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (overall) include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. • Calls patients to confirm appointments and performs a pre-screening interview with the patient. • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and records information in patients’ file. • Prepares patient for exam (changing into gown, removing all metal). • Prepares treatment room for examination. • Prepares trays for exams. • Seeks past images for patients who have them or are needed • Call reports to the referring physician’s office, when requested. • Stock/order supplies, fax reports, and any other duties that may be assigned daily. • Perform all other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications / Education / Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Certified M.A. preferred. • Current CPR certification. • Minimum of one-year work experience in public contact job, preferably service related. • Knowledge of health care field and radiology. • Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to radiology. • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families before exam can be conducted. • Skill in completing job functions in a timely manner. • Skill in using computer and medical records software and RIS/PACS competently to process patient images and department information. • Skill in multitasking at a high volume/high stress level. • Ability to communicate clearly in person and over the phone to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians and other staff. • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, outside referring physician offices, patients, co-workers, and management
Responsibilities
