The Role * Coordinate and provide leadership for an infection prevention and control portfolio including risk assessment; data collection; evaluation of both quantitative and qualitative data; dissemination of results; and stakeholder engagement and support to implement best practice infection control guidelines. * Provide leadership in the promotion of a learning environment in the multidisciplinary environment through the development and delivery of professional development and educational activities, including conducting education/in-service sessions for staff, and acting as a dedicated resource person for infection prevention and control matters providing professional and policy advice. * Contribute to performance management, quality improvement and service delivery through coordinating quality improvement processes and provide high level support for other members of the healthcare workforce including nursing, medical and allied health to maintain skills in infection prevention and control and management of healthcare associated infections. * Provide a specialist consultancy service to stakeholders, including nursing, medical and operational employees and managers regarding infection prevention and control principles and procedures. * Plan, monitor and manage performance in areas of portfolio responsibility, including collaborating with the Nurse Manager - IPCU in the development and maintenance of audit tools, the maintenance of relevant data bases, the provision of reports, and identification and resolution of issues as they arise. * Contribute significantly to the development of relevant Agency policies, procedures and clinical guidelines in relation to infection prevention and control in consultation with the Nurse Manager - IPCU. * Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training. * The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.  Note: - Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.
