POSITION SUMMARY
The Professional Practice department is currently seeking a Temporary Full-Time Clinical Education Coordinator to join their team. This position will primarily be focused on the Mental Health Unit.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as an RN with good standing.
- This role demands a combination of clinical expertise, teaching proficiency and a passion for advancing education. A minimum of ten years of psychiatric experience combined with teaching within academic settings.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of a client and family centered recovery model in mental illness and substance use/addiction treatment.
- Experience and strong knowledge of seniors wellbeing and mental health, in relation to dementia and delirium.
- Broad knowledge of de-escalation, crisis intervention and counseling skills.
- Broad knowledge of mental health illness, treatment and psychopharmacology (indication and side effects).
- Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough and accurate psychiatric assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to provide treatment planning, counseling, crisis intervention, care planning and case coordination.
- Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with clients and their families, colleagues, physicians, and other health care staff, both one-on-one and in groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and ability to problem solve.
- Demonstrated ability to provide consultation and leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with conflict situations. Excellent interpersonal with self-awareness of personal contributions in maintaining a positive team environment
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Demonstrated computer literacy for word processing, Internet and email software.
- Epic trained or ability to train and pass testing
- Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job, as per the current Physical Demands Analysis
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree
- Preferred Certification in Mental Health Nursing with the Canadian Nurses Association.
- Certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively manage rapidly changing situations.
- Current BCLS / NCVI.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining Reflective Practice Standards as outlined in the CNO.
- Successful completion and maintains competency/registration of a Non-violent Crisis Intervention Program.
- Demonstrated knowledge in theories of personality, personality change, mental status assessment and treatment models.
- Proven to have excellent knowledge of psychiatric medications and health teaching surrounding risks, benefits and side effects of psychotropic medications.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, prioritization, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
- Proven good attendance record with the capability of maintaining this same standard.
- Previous experience with policy revisions/development an asset
- Excellent ability to utilize multiple methods of education delivery
- Demonstrated experience with evaluating, identifying and supporting learning needs for new and experienced staff in the Mental Health Program
- Change management knowledge, ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously (certification or knowledge of LEAN training)
