As a member of the TGH/PMH Surgical Program the responsibilities of the CLINICAL COORDINATOR will be working with breast cancer patients undergoing surgical procedures and will include: utilizing and applying current specialized knowledge and expertise on recent advances in nursing practice to facilitate the effective management of clinical activities, the coordination of patient care across the continuum and continuity in patient care management; performing patient care responsibilities; performing teaching/educational responsibilities; participating actively in Quality Improvement initiatives; participating in academic and research activities/projects; performing administrative responsibilities; performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing
  • Completion of a recognized masters degree nursing program preferred
  • Certificate of competency (licensure) from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program, Level II Rescuer certification
  • Three (3) or more years experience in surgical oncology nursing, preferably with focus on breast cancer
  • Ability to work with psychosocial needs of individuals, couples, families and groups in a dynamic manner
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
  • Ability to participate in all on-going clinical research studies within the Breast Program
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
  • Excellent decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Excellent teaching skills with the ability to teach one-on-one and/or groups
  • Ability to function collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and/or independently
  • Ability to triage and prioritize new referrals for breast reconstruction and arrange timely clinic consultations
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work in a self directed manner
  • Demonstrated awareness of and adherence to professional and ethical standards
  • Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
  • Performs Clinical Coordinator functions and other cross-functional duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
