We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Band 7 Psychologist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team within our Tier 4 inpatient CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) unit. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced psychologist to work with young people under the age of 13 experiencing severe and complex mental health difficulties, providing specialist psychological assessment, therapy, and therapeutic support within an inpatient setting.
In liaison with colleagues and in response to an identified need, to provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with children, family members and others involved in the client’s care. While working as part of a multidisciplinary team, to exercise professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans. To formulate and implement plans for recommendations for formal psychological community-based treatment and/or the management of a client’s mental health problems to prevent psychiatric inpatient admissions wherever possible and appropriate. Treatment should be based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems, and employ methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings. Whilst working as an integrative member of the Collingham multidisciplinary team to be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for high risk individuals and their carers / families. To adjust and refine psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
Collingham Child and Family Centre is a Tier 4 inpatient service that provides specialist assessment and treatment to young people under the age of 13 experiencing severe and complex mental health difficulties, providing specialist psychological assessment, therapy, and therapeutic support within an inpatient setting. Collingham has a multidisciplinary team that adopts an integrative and evidence-based approach to provide assessment and treatment of acute mental health difficulties including self-harm, suicidal ideation and psychosis.
1. Alongside other clinical staff to have competencies in initiating, planning and reviewing care plans under enhanced CPA and for initiating and co-ordinating multi-agency reviews. To contribute a psychological mental health perspective to these discussions.
2. To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of multi-disciplinary care.
3. To attend the team’s weekly care planning meetings and ward rounds to ensure the safe running of services, adherence to complex care plans and enable effective communication within the team and share relevant information as required.
4. To prepare reports as required, including assessment and discharge summaries, CPA reports and referrals to other specialist services and contribution to reports for commissioners.
5. To promote the safeguarding and welfare of young people.
6. Provide psychoeducation and support to families, ensuring they are engaged in the treatment process and feel supported during the child’s admission.
7. Provide individual and group therapeutic interventions based on a range of psychological approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and evidence-based treatments in line with the NICE Guidelines
