EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from an accredited university.
· Registered with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC; authorized to practice Restricted Activity (a).
· Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in long-term care.
· Food Safe Certificate Level 1
· Food service management experience preferred.
· RAI-MDS training preferred.
· Professional liability insurance coverage required.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Clinical Dietitian applies independent clinical judgment and evidence-based practices to assess residents’ nutritional needs and develop care plans. As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, the Dietitian ensures resident-centered, safe, and quality nutrition care while working within professional standards and organizational policies.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments by gathering data from residents, families, medical records, diagnostics, and psychosocial factors.
· Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans for all residents.
· Monitor, evaluate, and adjust nutritional interventions as needed; refer to other health professionals when appropriate.
· Review and approve cycle menus and conduct nutrition-related audits.
· Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, leadership, and external partners to support person-centered care.
· Participate in clinical rounds, care conferences, discharge planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
· Document all services and assessments in electronic health records, ensuring accurate and timely entries.
· Provide nutrition counseling and education to residents and/or their substitute decision-makers.
· Lead and support resident/family education and staff training sessions.
· All staff are expected to support a culture of safety and preparedness by following VCCH’s policies and procedures related to resident safety and quality of care
· Participating in required safety training, emergency preparedness activities, and scheduled drills as part of their role.
