Clinical Dietitian
The Vancouver Prostate Centre’s Prostate Cancer Supportive Care Program is looking for a Registered Dietitian to join the team in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Clinical Dietitian with The Prostate Cancer Supportive Care Program, you will:

  • Offer clinical dietetic services to prostate cancer patients and their partners through consultations, providing personalized recommendations based on assessments and treatment modalities.
  • Lead virtual group education sessions focused on nutrition.
  • Deliver community presentations centered on nutrition and prostate cancer and its role in health and wellness.
  • Write a quarterly nutrition articles for the PCSC newsletter.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members and participate in nutrition-related research projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Registered Dietitian designation, with good membership standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
  • Carry 2 million General Liability insurance
  • Carry 2 million dollars of Personal liability insurance
  • 1 – 2 years of related experience
  • Have a keen interest and understanding of patient-centred care, whole person health and interventions for health optimization for people with prostate cancer.
  • Excellent presentation skills as well as oral and written communication ability
  • Competent technical skills on Windows based systems
  • A strong sense of initiative both individually and as part of a team
  • Manage a complex and varied workload

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of clinical dietetic theory and practice within a client/family centred model for care.
  • Knowledge of assessing clients with multi-system nutritional problems.
  • Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to counsel and teach clients with chronic disease.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement nutrition care plans in relation to client/family priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess client responses to care plan, and to respond appropriately.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events, deal with conflict situations, and problem-solve and to think critically.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (both verbally and in writing) with and deal effectively with clients and their families, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to carry out the duties of the job.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of equipment and supplies appropriate to the clinical area.
  • Demonstrated skill in techniques appropriate to the clinical area.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to effectively use a computerized client care information system and Internet, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
