MACQUARIE MEDICAL SCHOOL
1 FTE Division of Critical Care Medicine – Northern Beaches Hospital
Northern Beaches Clinical School in conjunction with Northern Beaches Hospital (NBH) is currently seeking expressions of interest for the position of Post Graduate Clinical Education Fellow in the Division of Critical Care Medicine.
The Clinical Education Fellow is responsible for supporting the clinical teaching and learning activities for second, third and fourth year Macquarie Medical School students undertaking their clinical placements in Critical and Acute Care at Northern Beaches Hospital (NBH). Activities include provision of teaching sessions, support and organisation of Doctors in Training to deliver teaching and supervision, and coordination of student assessment requirements.
The position will also contribute to the student orientation and support activities, including provision of pastoral care as needed. The position contributes to evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives including periodic review and enhancement of clinical experiences delivered at NBH.
Reporting to the Head of the Northern Beaches Clinical School, the Clinical Education Fellow provides a key point of contact between Doctors in Training, Clinical Supervisors, Clinical Leads, the Clinical School Officer and the Head of School.
The Fellow will also provide clinical care and oversee the management of patients at NBH, including but not limited to consultation services to emergency medicine and inpatients as requested by other specialties, participation in outpatient clinics and services (if applicable), and an on-call roster and associated duties if required.
In the clinical role, the fellow will commit to undertake training and education of junior medical staff and registrars and ensure they are well supported. Participation in hospital meetings and committees is expected to promote best clinical practice and a culture of education and learning within the hospital, and maintain the fellow’s own professional development.
Clinical duties will occur at Northern Beaches Hospital. Provision of education and assessment of medical students will for the most part occur at Northern Beaches Hospital at the Clinical School site and within the hospital educational precinct, but may at times also occur at Macquarie University.
The anticipated start date for the role is February 2026.
