QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field or ASN with 2 years experience as a clinical program educator. Will complete bachelor’s degree within established time frame.
  • 5 years clinical experience. Current IA RN license.
  • 4 years of ICU or ED or equivalent experience.
  • Competent in basic computer skills (Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Willingness to pursue ongoing traditional and non-traditional educational / training opportunities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments/projects. Self-directed and requires minimal supervision in fulfilling the job requirements.
  • Ability to consistently meet the department work schedule as designated. Ability to exhibit and teach basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in educational principles or adult learning theories in adult education and training with the ability to make presentations to large groups of people.
Responsibilities

Links the mission, vision, values, and employee expectations (culture) of the Medical Center with all performance improvement activities. Works effectively with department leaders to achieve common educational expectations and goals. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates staff development and educational programs designed to meet the varied and specific needs of the clinical staff. Plans, coordinates, and implements orientation for clinical staff. Facilitates skill training and competency assessment based on identified needs. Acts as a resource for staff development and education related to their unit and/or specialty, annual and onboarding education and competency assessments, skills fairs, mock events, and other learning opportunities as they arise. Addresses the individual learning needs of training participants and applies adult learning principles. Acts as a resource and participates in Organizational Improvement activities, committees, and meetings as assigned. Acts as a liaison between departments in interpreting policies and procedures. Facilitates groups utilizing appropriate meeting management and team building techniques. Participates in professional meetings/organizations and continuing education as assigned. Assists in developing organizational systems that increase the overall effectiveness of the Medical Center. Models service excellence at all times. Provides appropriate educational training needs driven by department specific needs and regulatory standards. Embraces and supports Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. Performs other related duties as assigned.
