The Clinical Educator / Employee Health Nurse is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of educational programs for clinical staff. This role focuses on enhancing the knowledge, skills, and competencies of healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care. Additionally, he/she is responsible for managing employee health files and database on all MMH employees in accordance with CDC guidelines and hospital policy. This dual role enhances staff competency and ensures a healthy workforce, supporting quality patient care and regulatory compliance.
This position has an OSHA Category I level of exposure to blood and body substances. Category I tasks are all procedures or other job-related tasks involving an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or body tissues or a potential for spills or splashes with blood, body fluids or tissues. The use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field (required)
  • Master’s degree in Nursing Education or Clinical Education (preferred)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting
  • Active license in the state of Alabama as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS certification required.

Responsibilities
  • Observes strict confidentiality of all information pertaining to employees health and safety.
  • Maintains database of all employee health requirements for each employee.
  • Maintains employee health file on each employee.
  • Administers annual immunizations, tb skin tests, to all staff, volunteers, and others as needed.
  • Responsible for gathering pre-employment health data and providing a release to HR when those requirements have been satisfied.
  • Obtains and maintains state licensure or other registration accreditation as required.
  • Upholds the mission statement of Mizell Memorial Hospital.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive clinical education programs tailored to meet the needs of healthcare staff.
  • Create evidence-based educational content for orientation, competency validation, and ongoing education
  • Conduct classroom, simulation-based, and bedside training sessions for clinical staff, including nurses, allied health professionals, and physicians
  • Lead workshops, in-service training, and continuing education courses to enhance clinical practices and ensure compliance with hospital standards and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with department heads, nurse managers, and other healthcare professionals to identify and prioritize training needs
  • Develop and oversee competency assessments for clinical staff, ensuring that all professionals meet required standards
  • Mentor and coach clinical staff to support professional growth and development
  • Maintain accurate records of educational activities, competency assessments, and staff progress
  • Conduct BLS, ACLS, & PALS classes
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
