POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager, Interprofessional Education, and working collaboratively with other members of the Interprofessional Practice and Education team, the Clinical Educator leads and supports quality outcomes through educational program planning, implementation and evaluation processes to enhance the knowledge, skills and professionalism of clinical staff.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
  • Undergraduate degree in Nursing (BN or BScN)
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Canadian Nurses Association Specialty Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical practice experience in complex continuing care, mental health and addictions, geriatrics, internal medicine, palliative care, rehabilitation and/or critical care
  • Knowledge of education program planning, teaching learning strategies and evaluation
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, leadership, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Exceptional time management skills with ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Self-motivated, team player, and ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent attendance record, ability to work independently.
  • High level of integrity and emotional intelligence

Responsibilities
  • The Clinical Educator supports clinical learning needs of new and current clinical staff by promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development
  • Facilitate onboarding and orientation of new staff in alignment with organizational policies and professional standards
  • Coordinate educational activities including clinical skills, mock code drills and just in time education to support patient care needs
  • Act as a role model and provide point of care support to clinical team members
  • Analyze staff learning needs to determine appropriate educational content and knowledge translation methods
  • Educate patient care staff in the use of new equipment, technology and supplies
  • Plan education programs to support organizational priorities and the implementation of best practice guidelines
