The purpose of the post is to provide specialist training and competencies in the surgical management of kidney cancer and stone disease, experience in subspecialist clinics, and engagement in high-impact translational research. The post is open to ST3-5 level doctors. We would expect the candidate to be able to operate independently on general urology cases such as general endoscopic urological procedures such as cystoscopy, ureteric stent insertion and scrotal exploration, although Consultant support is always provided. Audit and research work would be supported and encouraged.
The Urology department consists of 21 Urology Consultants, including 3 Academic Consultants. The department centralises provision of urological oncology care including bladder, prostate, kidney and testicular cancers to a large part of the East Anglian Region in addition to fulfilling its District Hospital functions.
