Description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a full time HPB clinical fellow (ST6+ level) within General Surgery at the Royal Surrey Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post is available from October 2024 – October 2025, subject to satisfactory progression.
This is an ideal post for candidates who are peri-CCT and wish to gain more clinical experience across the full range of benign and malignant HPB surgery. The post will involve working with the HPB team in theatres, outpatient clinics and looking after the HPB inpatients. The post holder will also have the opportunity to participate in research projects and undertake quality improvement initiatives which could result in publication and presentations at national meetings.
The HPB team have established the Royal Surrey Hospital/St Luke’s Cancer Centre as a centre of excellence for the treatment of HPB cancer as well as providing a tertiary service for emergency regional transfers with a catchment area over 2 million population.

To work as part of the HPB team as a senior registrar
Assisting in theatres and outpatients.
Attending daily ward rounds
Attending MDT meetings and presenting cases as require
To participate in the Registrar on-call rota
Departmental academic and audit meetings are held regularly and the registrars will be expected to take an active part.
To generally contribute to the clinical commitments of the unit as directed
To contribute to organisation and teaching within the MATTU
To undertake research projects as directed by the lead consultant.
Demonstrate at all times the ability to work in a team and be committed to the provision of a professional and developing service.

The post holder will be expected to participate in the General Surgery Registrar on call rota which incorporates a 1:3 Monday day only on call, weekend days on call (Friday - Sunday) on a 1:11 basis; and weekend nights on call (Friday only) on a 1:11 basis, all with prospective cover in place.
