Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The appointee will be based at The Christie Hospital and will provide supported work in both ward and outpatient settings, oncological and andrological procedures in theatre, and research. The post holder will support the Consultant Urological Surgeons, work alongside resident doctors and liaise closely with senior medical colleagues. The appointees professional time will be deployed flexibly in appropriate areas: clinical duties, administration, teaching, research, clinical audit etc. Detailed elements of the job plan arrangements are to be agreed with the successful applicant when in post.
Continuing Professional Development The Trust supports the requirements for continuing professional development (CPD) as laid down by the GMC and surgical colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities. Role Planning The job plan outlines the requirements of the post and may be altered by joint agreement with the Divisional Clinical Director and Service Manager and in response to service needs. Job plans are also subject to an annual review as detailed in the Trusts Job Planning Policy. It is expected that the initial job plan discussion will take place within the first six months of employment at the Trust.
The annual review will examine all aspects of the job plan (including any Educational components) and will also include an assessment of professional development with defined goals for the future. ATTAINMENTS Educational Qualifications MB BS (or equivalent) MRCS (or equivalent) CRiSP Course (if not undertaken would be expected within 3 months of commencement) MSc/MRes AF/CE Professional Qualifications Full GMC registration with a license to practice CE Research / Publications Evidence of a commitment to research Desire to participate in research at post graduate level Peer-reviewed publications Presentation at national/international conferences A commitment to undertake a higher research degree (MD/PhD) Experience in data analysis using R/Stata/Python and/or statistical analysis AF/I 2. TRAINING A minimum of 2 years of training within the specialty of the role. AF/I/R 3. EXPERIENCE Job Specific Completed 4 years full time post graduate training (or equivalent gained on a part time/flexible basis), at least 2 of which will be in specialty training programme General Surgical experience with good practical skills Career evidence of a commitment to the specialty Experience in core urology General surgical skills, skills in general urological diagnostics.
