JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Informatics Specialist 2 serves as a lead when promoting the understanding, integration and application of healthcare information technology in support of clinician/provider objectives, the organization’s vision and strategic goals and industry best practices. This position drives the optimal, efficient and effective use of clinical information systems and technology as it relates to patient care, patient safety, user satisfaction, clinical productivity and quality outcomes. Serves as a lead and a subject matter expert that bridges the gap between people, process, clinical knowledge and technology.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrates understanding of Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) policies, procedures and processes. Develops understanding of cross functional teams within BSWH Information Systems (IS) and other third party IS teams, to determine impacts of build to upstream and downstream processes. Demonstrates understanding of impacts to workflow from enhancements, projects and application upgrades. May serve as the lead for a sub-group for the operational advocate/service line. May serve as the user-acceptance testing lead for a domain/application/service line.
Investigates, escalates, and develops recommendations for resolution. Able to solve complex problems that span across multiple service lines/business units. Looks for ways to add value beyond stakeholder’s immediate requests and acts on them. Is able to prioritize work independently and in line with project deliverables and timelines. Provides support to informatics team when needed to help with decision making and prioritization of work.
Forms opinions on how health care policy and business processes/policies impact workflow and build decisions and offers innovative solutions to incorporate those regulations and policies into design and build of Health Information Technology (HIT) functionality. Partners with clinical compliance in the survey process for accreditations and designations. Active member of professional organization.
Leads key groups of activities specific to a project utilizing the most effective project management tools available. Effectively facilitates meetings with key stakeholders and manages action items through completion/resolution. Takes the initiative to seek out answers independently prior to escalation and develops ideas for resolution. Demonstrates competency through managing scope, key decisions, timelines for project assignments. Serves as coach and resource to Clinical Informatics Coordinator and Clinical Informatics Specialist 1.
Communicates updates/workflows to customers with minimal assistance. Considers problems from new perspectives and can expand on the thinking or solutions proposed by others. Leads design and discovery sessions for end users. Frames decisions using the appropriate analysis and presentation tools and methodologies.
Active participant in shared governance and may serve as officer for shared governance council. Understands principles of team building program and utilizes tools to enhance relationships and collaboration. Seeks to work with teams with complementary skills/expertise
