Summary The Clinical Laboratory Chemistry Supervisor is responsible for supervising activities including planning, coordinating, scheduling, disciplining, evaluating, and monitoring within the assigned area. Clinical Laboratory Services provides an array of timely and accurate diagnostic testing and other services to Baptist Health Corbin’s patients, and to other patients and organizations in support of the facilities mission, vision and strategic priorities. Supports staff development and continuous learning. Patient Assessment & Planning Conducts and documents assessments and care plans. Sets measurable goals and coordinates discharge planning. Uses a multidisciplinary approach for patient needs. Care Delivery Delivers care per policy and MD orders. Educates patients and families. Manages patient flow and staff compliance. Critical Thinking & Safety Responds to emergencies with sound judgment. Communicates clearly using SBAR/ARCC. Ensures safety and quality in care delivery. Leadership & Supervision (Weight: 20%) Supervises staff and ensures policy compliance. Oversees training, evaluations, and orientation. Addresses issues and models quality service. Fiscal Management (Weight: 15%) Assists with budgeting and resource use. Maintains equipment and cost-effective operations. Reports financial variances to leadership. Human Resources Oversight (Weight: 20%) Manages hiring, training, and performance. Conducts meetings and supports staff communication. Adjusts staffing and handles disciplinary actions. Operational Excellence (Weight: 15%) Ensures regulatory compliance and updates procedures. Leads quality management and safety programs. Implements improvements and resolves testing issues. Teamwork & Professional Behavior (Weight: 30%) Promotes collaboration and respectful communication. Handles customer service and conflict professionally. Maintains compliance, flexibility, and a positive attitude. Requirements: Associate degree plus five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. Must be certified as a Medical Technologist (ACSP); Medical Laboratory Technician (ACSP), MLS (ASCP), CLS (NCA) or equivalent. Must meet the minimum requirements outlined by CLIA 88. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
