We provide overnight short breaks for up to four children at a time, ensuring every child receives highly personalised care in a calm, nurturing environment. Our comfortable, homely setting centres around a large communal living and dining area, creating a relaxed and inclusive space where children feel safe, supported and cared for. A bit about the role We’re looking for an experienced Senior Community Paediatric Nurse / Clinical Lead to provide clinical oversight and leadership within our specialist respite service for children with learning disabilities and complex health needs. This role combines hands-on nursing with leadership of a small, dedicated team. A key requirement of this post is community paediatric nursing experience, bringing expertise in delivering nurse-led care within community settings and working collaboratively across multi-agency networks. Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will support the development and supervision of the nursing team, maintain strong clinical governance, and ensure the service is fully regulatory compliant. Your background in community paediatrics, alongside strong leadership capability, will help maintain a safe, high-quality, and nurturing environment where children can thrive both within the service and in partnership with their families and wider support systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Nurse with community paediatric experience seeking to lead a small, close-knit team and make a real impact on the lives of children and families, without the pressures of a large-scale service. How you’ll help to create brighter futures * Lead, manage and develop the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, community-informed care for children with learning disabilities and complex health needs. * Deputise for the Registered Manager, providing clinical and operational leadership and continuity of service. * Maintain oversight of clinical governance, including audits, risk management, staff competencies and quality improvement initiatives to ensure full compliance with CQC standards. * Lead on care planning, outcome measurement and service improvement, drawing on community nursing frameworks to enhance children’s wellbeing and development. * Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, commissioners, community health teams and external professionals to deliver truly child-focused, nurse-led care. * Support smooth transitions between home, community services and respite provision, ensuring continuity and consistency of clinical practice. Let’s talk about you We are looking for a Senior Community Paediatric Nurse who understands how to develop trust, rapport, influence and credibility with a staff team and partner agencies. You will need: * Registered Nurse (Child/Paediatric) with proven experience working within a community paediatric setting * Experience supporting children with learning disabilities and complex health needs in the community * Experience in care planning, measuring outcomes, and working within residential or short-break settings * A leadership background including delivering clinical supervision, staff training, competency sign-off and audit activity * Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and relevant legislation, with a clear understanding of professional accountability * Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills, with flexibility to support across shifts when required Good to know.
