Grounded in our commitment to Client and Family Centred Care the key foci on the RN, Clinical Lead role is to provide clinical leadership, advice, consultation, and mentorship to service providers pertaining to professional practice as defined by the regulatory bodies, quality institutions, and VHA’s Best Practice Unit.
We are seeking: Full-time Clinical Lead (RN) for the Central East region. (Durham & Scarborough). This is a role that involves maintaining a clinical caseload, along with clinical lead responsibilities.
When providing services, the Clinical Lead enhances department and organization reputation by reflecting VHA’s vision, mission and core beliefs of services as well as promoting and maintaining good public relations with clients, caregivers, partners, and VHA staff and associates.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • RN diploma/degree from a recognized college or university
  • Aware of relevant legislation related to practice standards, quality and safety issues and human rights standards
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbally
  • Expertise in facilitating learning and providing feedback in a peer support model
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team
  • Leadership skills and team building skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Progressive thinking, creative problem solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to work effectively with little or no supervision and self-manage in a fast-paced, dynamic and ambiguous work environment
  • Ability to exercise innovation and initiative and to integrate change

  • Must have a reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license and must be prepared to drive.
Responsibilities

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

VHA’s Clinical Leads are required to do the following tasks, but not limited to:

  • Provide clinical leadership, advice, consultation, coaching and mentorship
  • Act as resource in the implementation and interpretation of discipline-specific professional standards of practice
  • In collaboration with the Supervisor(s), Regional Director(s), and other CLs, recommend and/or provides orientation and/or education/training to meet professional/organizational/accreditation or legislative requirements
  • Maintain a clinical caseload
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the orientation process for new hires as part the CL team
  • Act as a support and resource with respect to Organizational and Strategic Initiatives
  • Support the Supervisor(s), Regional Director(s), and other organizational stakeholders in strategic, departmental, and operational initiatives to achieve targeted goals
  • Support and contribute to quality improvement initiatives, best practices, program evaluation and research
  • In partnership with Manager Research & Evaluation, determine interest and ability to participate in research opportunities available
  • Collaborate with inter-professional teams to promote safety and risk reduction
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate processes to prevent/eliminate hazards in collaboration with the Supervisors and the Regional Directors
  • Apply theoretical knowledge to the assessment, interpretation, planning and intervention of clients/needs
