We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Lead to join our Clinical Science Team, based in Breda, Netherlands.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The purpose of this position is to provide translational strategy for preclinical assets and clinical/medical leadership of New Meds Immuno-bone/ Neurology/Gene therapy programmes, including devising and delivering innovative, feasible and efficient clinical plans to proof of concept.
This role spans Immuno-bone / Neurology/ Gene therapy programmes from Discovery Research target identification (pre-DP0) through to clinical proof of concept (PoC) and the transition point to late phase development.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Provide clinical leadership at all stages of Immuno-bone / Neurology/ Gene therapy project progression from target selection through to PoC. Following preclinical projects from target selection to candidate selection and through early clinical development via the role of Clinical Lead.
  • Work in partnership with other key lines (e.g. Research, Biomarkers, SSI, Development Sciences, GCSO and Regulatory) to ensure all clinical aspects of the development plan are of high quality. This includes devising a feasible, efficient and innovative clinical plan, with clear decision points/criteria to inform project progression and enable seamless transition post-PoC to late phase development.
  • Provide input to overall Early Clinical Development & Translational Science (EDC&TS), Immuno-bone / Neurology/Gene Therapy strategy, including alignment with TAs, other Patient Value Units and Practices.
  • Provide ECD&TS clinical input to project or therapeutic area related scientific advisory boards.
  • Provide ECD&TS clinical input to licensing opportunities.
  • Represent ECD&TS at internal strategic and, dependent on seniority, governance bodies.
  • Establish and leverage Key Opinion Leaders network to establish high value research collaborations.
  • May have line management responsibilities
  • May be involved in strategic efforts in a sub-area (e.g. neuroinflammation)
  • Act as study lead for early clinical studies, with input delivered via medically qualified colleagues in ECD&TS. This will include design and protocol authoring, input to study operational set-up procedures and regulatory interactions, results interpretation and presentation.
  • Ensure clinical feasibility of study protocols.

INTERESTED? FOR THIS ROLE WE’RE LOOKING FOR THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE

  • PhD, MSc or Biomedical Sciences Degree, with experience in immuno-bone/ neurology specialty and/or clinical development, or PhD in immuno-bone disorders (e.g. Rheumatology, Clinical Immunology, Dermatology) / Neurosciences or other relevant area.
  • Significant experience in an academia or industry setting, with conduct of clinical research trials. Industry experience, including early clinical development/Translational Medicine
  • Excellent medical and scientific knowledge of neurological disorders and the principles and application of Translational Medicine to drug development.
  • Track record of publications related to Early Clinical Development and Translational Science.
  • Strong drive to identify and apply innovative approaches to early drug development.
