Description

Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll is actively seeking applicants to serve as Clinical Leader to support the teams in the Combined Unit, Emergency department and Special Care Unit.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible for the facilitation and coordination of patient services hospital wide
  • Responsible for role modelling, promoting problem solving, critical thinking and accountability in all daily activities
  • Promote an environment that fosters evidence-based practice, teamwork, quality improvement and empowerment through coaching.
  • Delegation of roles to team members.
  • Staffing during afternoon, night shifts and weekends.
  • Dispensing of medication when pharmacy is closed.
  • Bed utilization, facilitation and participation in interdisciplinary rounds on the Combined Unit and co-ordinate patient repatriations and transfers etc with the team.
  • Ongoing assessment and communication with Leadership and physicians when bed capacity is full to facilitate safe admission and discharge processes.
  • To provide assistance with nursing care in all clinical areas of the hospital and to determine and communicate the needs of the organization.
  • Knowledgeable about Cerner, Powerchart, FirstnetMicrosoft Office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse, currently registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum of 1 year full-time (or equivalent) experience within the last two years in Emergency or Critical Care nursing, or in the Hospital’s Special Care Unit (or a comparable unit in another hospital).
  • Minimum 3 years’ full-time (or equivalent) acute care nursing within the last 6 years; Leadership experience and/or recognized leadership courses an asset
  • Demonstrated excellence in all aspects of nursing practice, including assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation and teaching
  • Demonstrated respect, interest and empathy in patient and family interactions
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with all members of the health care team
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in communication and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated skills in coaching, mentoring and team leadership
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to Privacy and Confidentiality
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance record and work ethics in previous positions
  • Current certification in BLS, ACLS and I.V. insertion required
  • Current certification in CTAS, NRP, PALS, ENPC and TNCC preferred
