Qualifications: Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario. Baccalaureate degree preferred. 3-5 years of recent Cardiovascular operating room experience required. Perioperative certification CPN(C) required. Demonstrated consistency in approachability, clinical excellence, patience, respectful interactions and diplomacy. Established leadership skills and proven effectiveness as a mentor, as well as role modeling and reliability Experience with project management an asset. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of hospital standards, policies and procedures, reporting structures and emergency measures. Current clinical knowledge of professional perioperative standards. Demonstrates enhanced interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict management. Demonstrates exceptional critical thinking. Strong leadership, including assessment, planning and implementation using advanced problem solving skills Commitment to life-long learning, and demonstration of teaching in the clinical setting. Proven ability to excel during times of change and role-model effective change management. Competence with Meditech, EPIC, Microsoft software-Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Responsibilities: Facilitates communication within the inter-professional team. Assumes responsibility for quality practice management in the perioperative units. Reviews all risk monitoring reports for trending and identifies opportunities to reduce risk. Participates in global and unit specific committees representing the perioperative units as required. Supports the process of booking and scheduling, managing provincial wait times and reporting as necessary and guides data collection and audits as directed by the Patient Care Manager. Participates in the hiring process under the guidance of the PCM as necessary, contributes to the performance assessment and review of staff. Responsible in collaboration with clinical educator to support and maintain the electronic documentation system. Reviews documentation and issues around patient care concerns. Follow-up on patient care issues as required. A proactive leader role-modeling professional standards of care while seeking innovations to advance front line knowledge, skill and patient centered care. Participation in unit activity planning-daily, weekly and in emergency or contingency situations.
