JOB PLAN
The post will be carried out on COMD sites (or online if necessary) with possible extended working hours with the occasional need for providing cover on other days including weekends in line with the demands of the programme. There is no on-call commitment. The post-holder will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan including personal and professional objectives with the Programme Lead within three months of the start date.

KEY FOCUS OF THE ROLE
The primary focus of this role is to teach, examine and undertake administrative duties for the Orthodontics postgraduate training programme under the direction of the Programme Lead. The postholder will also be expected to contribute to the development of the programme and assist with the changes needed. They will ensure that the teaching delivered is high quality and is aligned to the learning outcomes using a range of methods. A key aspect of the role will be to support the programme lead in ensuring that high quality outputs and timely completion of assessments thus enabling graduate progress to be monitored closely. They will play a central role in ensuring that the teaching provided fulfils the learning outcomes of the Syllabus in Orthodontics. The clinical teaching days will be fixed to the days that the graduates are undertaking direct clinical patient care. The postholder will also be expected to manage student queries with timely escalation as appropriate.
The successful individual is expected to work proactively on their own initiative and be a team player and will comply with the College governance and regulatory protocols.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and training
Plan and deliver high quality didactic, practical, and clinical teaching
Contribute to and assist in the delivery of evidence-based teaching, assessment and examining
Develop and deliver lectures and seminars
Undertake the development and regular evaluation of modules with reference to the content, delivery and assessment
Participate in the development of new curricular initiatives and programme initiatives
Supervise clinical work and guide students in practical application
Participate in the developmental changes needed to improve the outputs from the programme
Demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning and apply innovate teaching and learning methodologies
Contribute towards the maintenance of academic standards
Communication
Participate in faculty meetings and committees
Collaborate with colleagues
Contribute to graduate management during the course
Maintain ethical standards at all times setting a standard for graduates
Student progress and mentoring
Undertake timely student assessments and prepare reports on the student progress
