Job Summary: The Medical Assistant Certified II is responsible for direct and indirect care of patients under the direction of an RN, LPN, physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant. The Medical Assistant Certified II assumes a leadership role to support a designated physician(s)' clinic(s) - ensuring effective and efficient day-to-day operation, including scheduling and patient flow. The MA-C II serves as a leadership resource to other Medical Assistants for clinical activities; provides direct assistance to individuals and teams when staffing needs demand same. Performs various administrative tasks to support the physician's and clinic's needs. Takes appropriate action to address and resolve concerns within delegated authority. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation. Education: Required: - High School diploma/equivalent. - Completion of an accredited (or in process of accreditation within 2 years) Medical Assistant Program or completion of a governed Medical Assistant program or completed equivalent military training. Or one year of Clinical Medical Assistant experience within the last 5 years. - De-escalation training, if applicable. Preferred: - Phlebotomy skills Experience: Required: - N/A Preferred: - Medical background Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration Required: - Medical Assistant Certification - BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward. Preferred: - Current CPR Department Position Summary: The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in physician practice. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. The individual must be able to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs. The individual must be able to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures. This is done through evaluation of direct supervisor by direct observation, or discussed verbally or written. The Medical Assistant Certified II functions as a lead resource to others. Assumes primary responsibility for the effective and efficient patient scheduling and flow through one or more physician's clinic. Performs related administrative tasks in support of the physician's and clinic's activities. Takes appropriate action to address and resolve concerns within delegated authority.
