Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital Are you a dynamic and experienced Clinical Midwife Manager ready to make a real impact in a purpose-driven organisation? St John of God Midland Hospital is looking for Non-Ambulatory Clinical Midwife Manager in conjunction with the Nurse Midwifery Manager who will be responsible for leading and managing the Midwifery/Nursing and Patient Care Assistant teams across the service (ambulatory and inpatient) to deliver patient centred care, ensuring the team achieves excellence in clinical safety, quality and patient experience. Our maternity and neonatal facilities are some of the finest in the country and we offer comprehensive parent education for our patients The Position In collaboration with the Nurse Midwifery Manager: Directs advanced, complex patient care in the area of specialty. Sets and monitors clinical practice standards and policy compliance within the Ward/Department. Rounds on all patients daily in order to proactively manage the patient experience including the investigation and management of patient feedback. Models and influences a culture focused on person centred care. Maintains excellence in interpersonal skills, leadership, motivating and supporting caregivers especially through times of change or conflict. Together with the Nurse Midwifery Manager, assists with the development of models of care which place the patient at the centre of planning, decision making and evaluation for the ward/unit. Relieves in the Nurse Midwifery Manager role as required. Staff allocation in line with acuity and skill mix over 7 day/ 24 hour periods Clinical support and resource in Labour Ward, SCN and the 2A Ward (Post-natal) Patient flow resource management Safety and quality and clinical governance including policy review Area manager responsibilities Rostering of all areas across maternity ward Review of current and retrospective Riskmans Agents for supporting positive change management Position Requirements You will hold registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse Midwife/Registered Midwife with significant and recent post-registration experience and the ability to practice at an advanced level. You will have well-developed leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, give direction and delegate to the team. You will be required to actively participate in audits and quality improvement activities. To succeed you will have the ability to plan, assess and develop team and individual performance as well as the ability to identify and solve problems including conflict resolution. You will have demonstrated commitment to personal ongoing education and professional development, commitment to nursing and other clinical projects that are implemented to improve patient care and a high level of communication skills. Knowledge of relevant acts, codes and standards relevant to current practice is essential.
