Novant Health Cancer Institute is seeking an Clinical Nurse Specialist!!!
The Cellular Therapy Clinical Nurse Education Specialist develops and deploys standardized education, training, and competency requirements for Transplant &Cellular Therapy (TCT) patients and team members that is based on Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT)
Standards, National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Be the Match requirements, third-party Cellular Therapy Manufacturer agreements, and TCT nursing process and practice. In addition, the Cellular Therapy Clinical Nurse Education Specialist creates educational material and organizes learning activities for patients and their caregivers. The educational focus is to provide TCT patient education throughout the TCT patient journey and to support inpatient and outpatient TCT Program team members across both Greater Charlotte and Winston Markets at Presbyterian Medical Center and Forsyth Medical Center. The position may be based at either location with required travel sufficient to support the success of the program’s TCT educational component system wide.

Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing. BSN required. Master’s degree in nursing field with focus in nursing education, required.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of clinical practice in area of specialization, required.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current RN license in appropriate state, required.
- RN prof cert in relevant specialty, required.
- RN professional certification in Nursing Professional Development (Not required for positions based in the Cancer Support Services area), required.
- Additional Skills (required):
- Current and future trends/practice in area of responsibility; regulatory and governing standards, policies and procedures; information systems and software used in area of responsibility; equipment used in performing assigned duties; application of safety and infection control policies and procedures; teambuilding, conflict management, and interpersonal relationship skills; principles of adult learning and teaching methods/models; effective classroom presentation style; decision making, project leadership and consultation, delegation and communication skills; understanding of customer needs and expectations and knowledge for improvement to exceed customer expectations; knowledge of research and EBP methodologies and analyses; ability to write effectively.
- Certification is a requirement for the Clinical Nurse Education Specialist role as it demonstrates commitment and expertise to the nursing profession. Certification is required within your defined specialty as well as NPD certification for this role. A certification within relevant clinical specialty is required for this role, and a list of certifications accepted can be obtained through the leadership of The Center for Professional Practice and Development at Novant Health.
- Experience in clinical practice in hematology/oncology, blood and marrow transplantation, and/or cellular therapy required. Knowledge of HCT and cellular therapy processes, including donor registries/cell procurement, mobilization, apheresis, conditioning regimens, autologous and allogeneic HCT/cellular product infusion, pre and post TCT patient care, chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR T)/ immune effector cell therapies and complications and standards of the FACT preferred. Current (or actively pursuing) the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) and/or Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BMTCN) credential required. Current (or actively pursuing) Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate required.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

- Promotes integration of clinical practice and critical thinking skills through consultation with multidisciplinary teams including clinical, facility, andspecialty leadership. Remains present and intuitive to the needs of the TCT Program. Purposes to logically compare alignment of clinical andprogram practice to FACT standards and TCT Program policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Recognizes gaps and opportunities for improvement for streamlined administrative and clinical workflows. Works closely with the TCT ProgramManager(s) and the TCT Quality Manager/Coordinator to identify trends that require corrective action and possible change in practice. Uses qualityindicators to evaluate and improve practice. Contributes to the creation, review, and revision of TCT Program policies and SOPs for determiningbest TCT care practices for program success.
- Promotes program growth by collaboratively completing change control analyses/risk assessments, participating in validations and audits asnecessary, and creating pathways and competency checkoffs that meet FACT standards for apheresis, autologous and allogeneic HCT, immuneeffector cell therapy including Risk Evaluation Mitigation Strategy (REMS) training, and pre, peri, and post TCT education fo r patients and theircaregivers.
- Systematically prepares evidence-based practice pathways of TCT team member competency from novice to expert. Validates nursing practicestructure for ensuring compliance with FACT standards for patient safety and best possible outcomes from patient pre-workup to posttransplantation/cellular therapy care. Endorses the use of excellent program and organization communication skills into the TCT Programframework for optimal care within TCT teams as well as the receipt and handoff from/to other multidisciplinary units (e.g. emergency department,intensive care unit, interventional radiology, and all other areas involved in the care of the TCT patient). Prepares, initiates, monitors, anddocuments initial and annual TCT-specific competencies of the multi-disciplinary team members per FACT standards and in conjunction withdepartmental-specific competencies, and departmental leaders.
- Works with managers and preceptors to facilitate effective onboarding and orientation of new TCT team member hires. Ensures appropriatetraining is provided to the TCT administrative and clinical teams, initially and ongoing. Observes and validates competency throughdocumentation and check-off initially, annually, and as needed and identified per FACT, TCT Program, third party manufacturing parties,regulatory, and field-specific requirements. Organizes and facilities pre-TCT patient, caregiver, and survivorship classes and groups for the bestoutcomes.
- Performs audits to assure that TCT administrative and clinical team member requirements, education, training, and competency are compliantwith organizational, clinical, TCT Program and FACT standards. Perpetually monitors TCT Program team member performance indicators for qualityand safety assurance.
