JOB SUMMARY:
In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS), patient and employee safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at BCEHS, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
The Educator collaborates across programs, utilizes evidence-informed practice and education theory, models, program/curriculum development and evaluation; promotes and models client centered care, supports the development of quality education activities; and delivers formal group or individual educational activities to staff that will achieve the most effective outcomes. Measures education plan success and amends plans accordingly. The Educator participates in research, policy, quality improvement, and risk management activities. The Educator promotes education practices that are consistent with established policies, standards and strategic directions of BCEHS.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training and Experience
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
- Two years of recent related clinical experience in the designated clinical area, including one year in an educational or leadership role, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Completion of the Instructional Skills Workshop or Adult Education Equivalent. The Employer will equally consider an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Sound knowledge of current practice approaches and “Best Practice” standards both in the delivery of telenursing and the provision of clinical education to nursing staff
- Demonstrated ability to establish educational priorities to meet identified program, organization and learner needs.

- Demonstrated ability to apply principles of adult education, lifelong learning, and to apply educational theories and evidence to teaching practices.
