Job Opportunity Job ID: 52175 Description: Positions Location: Lansing, MI Job Description General Purpose of Job: The Clinical Nurse Educator develops, plans and implements educational activities to foster the advancement of competency and professional development in nursing associates. Integral to the role, the educator must be competent in career development, education, and project management. According to the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, intertwined elements include educator/facilitator, educator/academic liaison, change agent/team member, researcher/consultant, leader/communicator, and collaborator/advisor/mentor. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position. Assesses associates' learning needs, develops, plans and presents education as orientation, in-service, and continuing education. Utilizes evaluation data to revise education to achieve desired outcomes. Documents education in accordance with policy and regulatory agencies. Collaborates with peers, interdisciplinary colleagues and academic partners to achieve desired outcomes. Actively participates in committees, task forces, projects and planning meetings. Acts as a change agent to facilitate evidence-based practice changes which promote positive outcomes. Integrates research/evidenced based practice into nursing education opportunities. Actively participates in initiatives that support the nursing goals and strategic plan. Incorporates the Transformational Model into nursing education and appropriate initiatives. Integrates ethical principals in all educational activities Creates an effective learning environment for a diverse adult learner population. Role models lifelong learning and supports professional development of other nurses. Job Requirements General Requirements • Current State of Michigan license as a Registered Nurse • Basic Life Support (BLS) • PALS, ACLS, TNCC, and ENPC required within 6 months of employment Preferred: • Certification in specialty area or nursing professional development Work Experience • 5 years of Emergency Department experience required Education • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Preferred: • Master of Science in Nursing Specialized Knowledge and Skills Required: • BLS Instructor • ACLS Instructor • TNCC Instructor required within 6 months of transfer to the role • ENPC Instructor required within 1 year of transfer to the role • Demonstrated competency in developing and presenting Emergency Department specific education • Competent use of MS Office products including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel • Interpersonal skills for effective communication • Accountable for professional development and maintenance of competencies • Excellent attendance • Project and time management skills • Able to handle stressful situations and manage conflict University of Michigan Health - Sparrow is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
